What Happens in a Naturopathic Medical Visit?

Naturopathic Medical Visit

Curious to know what a visit with a naturopathic medical visit will be like? Most people wonder, what will you do with all that time?

Our first visit will be approximately  75 – 90 minutes in length, and is largely a conversation about you. I want to know all about you. Not simply the symptoms you are presently experiencing in your body, but those you have experienced in the past, where you live, the food you eat, any trauma or stress you have experienced, and other questions that will come to mind based on the answers you provide.

I ask a lot of questions to look for clues that can help me understand how your body is working.

Our goal, is to work together to eliminate the symptoms, but to do so, we need to find out what is creating the problem in the first place. The symptoms that you may come in with, are only the ones you might be noticing, but healing the whole body can help it run more efficiently and effectively.

Having more energy, sleeping better, having improved mood these are the possible side effects of treating the source of the problem. Sounds like good side effects to have, right?

To get to the source of the problem requires us to build trust in one another.  I don’t mind if you didn’t take the supplements or change the diet after our visit, however I do care if you didn’t tell me that you couldn’t stick with it. Part of my job is to help you find tools that will work for you and your lifestyle. I have a lot of different ones we can try, but the only way they will work is of we move forward together.

Follow up visits in the teaching clinic range from 30 to 60 minutes and can include more discussion, acupuncture, hydrotherapy and other therapies that can be used to help you stay motivated and continue to feel better each visit.

How long does it take to feel better? This depends on how long you have been sick, the extent of your illness and if the plan we create is sustainable for you.

That being said, I think I’m not doing my job if you don’t start feeling some difference soon and want to encourage you to challenge me if you are not. I will continue look for research ideas and pearls of wisdom from my colleagues to help your body heal.
