Meet Dr. Christina Carew

Dr. Christina Carew, Naturopathic DoctorDr. Christina Carew, ND
Naturopathic Doctor & Change Agent

Has your body been yelling at you ‘it’s time to heal yourself’, or maybe those words came from the mouth of your partner? Whomever was talking, I am happy that it brought you to my website.

I want you to stop feeling alone in your health journey. I’ve been in your shoes. It was my own experience that became the motivation for me to become Dr. Christina Carew, and to be here today, to help you.

Curious about my own journey to health – read it here.  Maybe you came here to see where I was trained – you can read that here.

If you are still here, it’s because this page is for you to get to know me.

WHY AM I HERE, IN FRONT OF YOU, RIGHT NOW?

I have always held the belief that everything in life happens for a reason. Your journey is tangled and twisted (feeling like an impossible mission) so that when you find the the reason for your journey, you know it.

First Truth: Connection

Connection My mind is like an overgrown database. I love meeting people and connecting them with other people that I know. These introductions lead to amazing friends, lovers, partners, colleagues or sources of that perfect something.  I have really strong relationships with my friends, and my patients are like family. I want everyone to succeed, be happy, find health and spread their love forward into the world.  What drew me to medicine, the fact that I loved connecting ideas. Connecting all these pieces of research and knowledge about the body for the person I’m with, is epic.

Second Truth: Clarity

Clarity - Dr. Christina CarewI love analogies and puns. I’m a visual learner so it is important for me to paint a picture for my patients. This approach can help explain what is happening in a way that is meaningful and relevant. Sometimes this involves a diagram (I am wicked with a wipe board), others a candid story.  I have one patient that says, I really don’t understand all that science stuff but I remember the analogies you use and that makes me want to make change. (Yeah, win for stories!)

Third Truth: Empowerment

Empowerment - Dr. Christina CarewWe live in a world where everyone is power hungry. In this battle of egos, we often find that individuals hold back or don’t explain critical information. This can leave us feeling vulnerable and without informed choice. I believe that everyone has the right, and ability, to make their own decisions about their life (and their health). Everyone deserves to have all the information available that will allow them to make a decision that is right for them.

I won’t always agree with all decisions (my family will support me in that statement), but I will always respect and support it. I know how scary it is to not know what is happening to our bodies, our minds or our loved ones.

Google lets us search every symptom, condition and disease. However, it is hard, especially if you aren’t trained in the area you are researching, to figure out who to believe. Who is right/wrong, what is new/old and what is right for you.  I want every single person to feel empowered in their health. My goal is to  work with you to become an informed patient.

WHAT ARE MY PASSIONS?

This is funny because I remember on a number of occasions asking my husband, what am I passionate about? Its taken me years to realize that passion doesn’t mean obsession.  It means celebrate what gives you enjoyment again and again.

OutdoorsOutdoors. Some of my passions –  yoga, kayaking, white water rafting, being outside and doing any sporting activity. I am an excellent last minute joiner when you are short a player.

PathwaysPathways. I love biochemical pathways (especially anything to do with the brain), which is pretty weird because I really didn’t like biochemistry initally. Fast forward to today, and I am for sure going to whip out some weird chart of a piece of the body and how it works.

Problem Solving Problem solving. I am the person that can tetris that pile of furniture into the car and still be able to see out the window (well…most of the time).  If someone comes in with a ‘no one knows what is going on with me’, I am dedicated to finding a way to tackle it.

MY APPROACH WITH YOU…

There you have it, a bit of insight into what drives me to make the world a better place. I picked the name HealingMe for my website because that is where it started.

My goal is to forever innovate and change the paradigms we have in healthcare. I want to provide a space that is flexible for patients to suit their needs. I am dedicated to providing new solutions when the old ones aren’t working.

The approach we take is open and flexible, if something isn’t working, its time to stop and redirect. We will simply move on to the next thing, because that is how you innovate.

If I sound like someone that is a good fit for you, I invite you to come in.  Let’s get rid of your obstacles to success together. Book in with Dr. Christina Carew here.
