Whether it was your body yelling at you ‘it’s time to heal yourself’ or maybe those words came from the mouth of your partner – whomever was talking I am happy that it brought you to my website. Don’t feel alone, in fact both of those very situation happened to me, and they became drivers for me to choose this profession.
If you are still here, its because this page is for you to get to know me.
wHY AM I HERE, IN FRONT OF YOU, RIGHT NOW?
I have always held the belief that everything in life happens for a reason and that your journey is tangled and twisted (and often feels like an impossible mission) so that when you find where you are suppose to be, you know for sure you are in the right spot.
I’ve worked in a lot of different roles, in a lot of different cities, and there are three things that held true again and again.
The first truth is connection. My mind is like an overgrown database, I love meeting people and connecting them with other people that I know will be amazing friends, lovers, partners, colleagues or sources of that perfect something. I have really strong relationships with my friends, and my patients are like family. I want everyone to succeed, be happy, find health and spread their love forward into the world. I also love connecting ideas, and what drew me to medicine was connecting all these pieces of research and knowledge about the body and making them into something that was useful for treating the person in front of me in a way that was perfect for them.
The second truth is clarity. I love analogies and puns. I am a visual learner so it is important for me to paint a picture for my patients that really explain what is happening in a way that is meaningful and relevant to them. Sometimes this involves a diagram (I am wicked with a wipeboard), others a candid story. Whatever the means that works best for you, we will find it. I have one patient that says, I really don’t understand all that science stuff but I remember the analogies you use and that makes me want to make change. (Yeah, win for stories).
The third and final truth is empowerment. We live in a world where everyone is power hungry and often hold back or don’t explain critical information leaving each us feeling vulnerable and without informed choice. I believe that everyone has the right and ability to make their own decisions about their life (and their health) and deserves to have all the information available that will allow them to make a decision that is right for them. I won’t always agree with the decision (my family will support me in that statement), but I will always respect it. I know how scary it is to not know what is happening to our bodies, our minds or our loved ones. We can google every symptom, condition and disease but it is hard, especially if you aren’t trained in the area you are researching, to figure out who is right, who is wrong, what is new, what is old and what is right for you. I want every single person to feel empowered in their health and will work with you to become an informed patient.
What Are My Passions?
This is funny because I remember on a number of occasions asking my husband, what am I passionate about? It has taken me years to realize that passion doesn’t mean obsession about something it, instead it means what gives you enjoyment again and again.
Some of my passions – yoga, kayaking, being outside and doing any sporting activity (I am an excellent last minute joiner when you are short a player).
I love biochemical pathways (especially anything to do with the brain), which is pretty weird because I really didn’t like biochemistry the first few times I took it. Fast forward to today, and I am for sure going to whip out some weird chart of a piece of the body and how it works.
Lastly, I love problem solving. I am the person that can tetris that pile of furniture into the car and still be able to see out the window (most of the time), I can be given an impossible task and figure out how to do it in the necessary time, and if someone comes in with a ‘no one knows what is going on with me’ I am dedicated to finding a way to tackle it.
There you have it, a bit of insight into what drives me to make the world a better place. I picked the name HealingMe for my company because that is where it started, but that is also what it is to every patient that walks in the door. My goal for HealingMe is to forever innovate and change the paradigms we have in healthcare. I want to provide a space that is flexible for patients to suit their needs, dedicated to providing new solutions when the old ones aren’t working and a space where if something isn’t working, we aren’t going to keep doing it, we move on to the next thing because that is how you innovate.
If I sound like someone that is a good fit for you, I invite you to come in and lets get rid of your obstacles to success together. Book here.
